Why play?

Why is play so important? It is the cornerstone of what makes us happy, healthy and creative people. Research has shown this over and over again. Problem solving, communicating, creating, negotiating – it all comes through during play. It’s true for children, and it is true for grown ups as well.

For more information, check out “The Serious Need for Play” in the February 2009 issue of Scientific American Mind. Melinda Wenner reports, “Free, imaginative play is crucial for normal social, emotional and cognitive development. It makes us better adjusted, smarter and less stressed.” http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=the-serious-need-for-play

So why not turn off your computer and find someone to play with. You’ll be happy you did.
